Although he enjoyed a solid career as a basketball player for the Lions. He is especially remembered by Loyola University and Southern California basketball fans for an incredible senior campaign in 1956-57. It was during that season that he averaged 20.3 points and 20.7 rebounds a game, while setting school records that still stand currently for freethrows attempted in a season (256), freethrows made in a season (186) and freethrows made in a game (16). He also led the West Coast Athletic Conference in league field goal percentage and established the existing conference record for free throws made in one season (120). He won All-WCC First Team Honors and established himself as one of the Lions' All-Time Great Forwards.
