Loyola Marymount University Athletics

The 1989-90 LMU Men's Basketball Team captured the heart of the nation as they reached the NCAA Elite Eight and set the NCAA record for scoring an average of 122.4 points per game, a record that still stood as of 2010. The Lions, who overcame the loss of teammate Hank Gathers, defeat three ranked teams in the NCAA tournament and set most tournament scoring records in the process. They finished the season 26-6 and ranked 19th by the USA Today/Coaches Poll.
