LAKE NATOMA, CA -The LMU Lions competed in the WCC Championship Saturday afternoon and ended with great results. Other than the Lions, the races consisted of San Diego, Gonzaga, Creighton, Saint Mary's College, Santa Clara and Portland.
In the first two varsity four race, LMU finished in first place with a time of 7:39.842, followed by the University of San Diego (7.42.881), Gonzaga University (7:45.683) and Creighton (8:10.342). In the second race, LMU placed second with a time of 7:40.781, just behind Gonzaga University who finished in first place with a time of 7:31.386.
Moving on to the second varsity eight race, LMU placed second with a time of 6:52.918, again just behind Gonzaga University who finished first with a time of 6:45.61 followed by USD (6:55.621), Portland (7:01.396), Creighton (7:06.658), Saint Mary's College (7:13.098).
In the final varsity eight race, LMU finished in fourth place with a time of 6:48.579, while Gonzaga University took first place with a time of 6:38.492.
Overall, the Lions finished in third place out of the seven teams.
The WCC also announced All Conference Awards and two Lions finished the season with recognitions.
Fernanda Ceballos Lara was awarded Newcomer of the Year and made the All-Conference Team.
Penelope Frost joined Lara on the All-Conference Team as well.
