Aug. 13, 2015 LOS ANGELES - The LMU Sports Network is near the end of the summer feature highlighting the seven newcomers for LMU men's basketball. The series continues with junior transfer Brandon Brown.
Brown became one of the top junior college players in the nation the last two seasons, setting the all-time school record for scoring at Phoenix College in Arizona. He finished his two-year career with 1,603 points, leading the team to the NJCAA Division II National Championship as a freshman in 2014 and a third place finish this past March.
Brown was a two-time NJCAA All-American, earning Player of the Year honors in 2015, leading the nation in points and ranking third in assists. As a freshman, he he led the Bears to its first national title, earning MVP honors in the national tournament. He was seventh nationally in scoring and fourth in assists that season.
The 2015-16 recruiting class combined to post a record of 266-98 (73.1 winning percentage) in each of their final two seasons at the previous institution. Joining Brown is McDonald All-American Games nominee Jeffery McClendon (Eastside HS, Lancaster, CA), NJCAA All-Conference selection Buay Tuach (Northeast C.C.; Norfolk, Neb.), 2014 CCCAA All-State forward Adom Jacko (Chaffey College; Racho Cucamonga, Calif.), NJCAA All-Conference selection Shamar Johnson (Pensacola State College; Pensacola, Fla.), and Canadian National Team member Munis Tutu (La Lumiere School; LaPorte, Ind.). They will all join the Lions for the 2015-16 season.
