2015-16 Season Stats BRIEFLY... Brandon Brown completes his second and final season at LMU after transferring from Phoenix College in Arizona prior to the 2015-16 season... earned back-t-back All-WCC honors, claiming Honorable Mention WCC All-Conference in 2015-16 and second-team WCC All-Conference after his senior campaign.
HIGHLIGHTS AT LMU...
IN 2016-17... SENIOR... Enters final WCC tournament ranked 11th all-time at LMU for a single season by shooting 41.8 percent from three this season... he is ranked 29th all-time with a 13.1 career scoring average, 26th with 73 three-pointers, tied for 27th with 200 three-point attempts, 17th with a career .365 shooting percentage from three, 12th with 297 assists and 14th with a 1.4 career steals average... Brown leads the way at point, entering the WCC tournament sitting is 10th in scoring (13.6 ppg), 6th in assists (4.1 apg), and 3rd in steals per game (1.4) within the WCC. He has had three game-winners, hitting a three-pointer with just over a second left against Colorado State (12/19/16), a big runner at buzzer against Portland (1/14/17) and then in the regular season finale at Pacific (2/25/17)... He is coming off his seventh 20-point game of the season after going for 24 points, hitting 4-for-8 from three and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in that final game. With that shooting performance, he is now ranked 5th in the WCC in three-point shooting (41.8 percent), 12th in free throw shooting (73.4 percent), 12th in three-pointers made per game (1.8), and 6th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8).
IN 2015-16 · JUNIOR... earned Honorable Mention All-WCC honors in his first season with the Lions... ranked fourth in the WCC in assists at 5.7 per game (ranked 27th nationally) and helped the Lions to rank in the top-50 nationally in assists per game (46th), assist-to-turnover ratio (39th), turnover margin (26th) and fewest turnovers (29th)... finished the season second on the team with 12.6 points per contest, adding 2.4 rebounds per game and ranked 10th in the WCC hitting 75.7 percent from the free throw line... also finished fourth in the conference with 1.42 steals per contest, grabbing 44 to lead the Lions... led the Lions to a win in the WCC tournament over San Diego (3/6/16), scoring 20 points with five steals, hitting a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line... paced the Lions in the road win at Santa Clara with 22 points and nine assists... he had his first double-double with 20 points and 10 assists against Santa Clara (2/18/16) at Gersten Pavilion... he followed that with another, going for 17 points and 10 assists in win over USF (2/20/16)... he is only the seventh player in LMU history to have back-to-back point-assist double-doubles... he closed the regular season with 16 points, five assists and a career-high five steals in LMU's win over Pepperdine (2/27/16)... finished among the WCC leaders in minutes per game during non-conference play, going for more than 34 a contest... scored double figures in all but two games in non-conference, including a career-best 24 points at Colorado State (11/19/15), hitting 8-for-16 from the field and 4-for-5 from three... among the top-five in the WCC through non-conference with nearly six assists per contest, including nine against CSUN (11/25/15) and nine at CSUF (12/12/15)... averaged 13.5 ppg and 5.9 apg in non-conference.
BEFORE LMU... Brown became one of the top junior college players in the nation in 2014 and 2015, setting the all-time school record for scoring at Phoenix College in Arizona. He finished his two-year career with 1,603 points, leading the team to the NJCAA Division II National Championship as a freshman in 2014 and a third place finish in March of 2015. Brown was a two-time NJCAA All-American, earning Player of the Year honors in 2015, leading the nation in points and ranking third in assists... As a freshman, led the Bears to first national title, earning MVP honors in the national tournament. He was seventh nationally in scoring and fourth in assists that season... he graduated from Cesar Chavez High School, leading his team to the state championship game while averaging 22.7 points, 4.2 assists and 4.5 steals his final season... was a two-time all-conference selection and was named All-State as a senior.
PERSONAL... Brandon Dwayne Brown was born on Sept. 18, 1991 in Phoenix, Ariz... He is the son of Vontella Carter and Mark Brown... has two younger brothers... an African-American Studies major.
