LOS ANGELES – Following the conclusion of the regular season, the West Coast Conference has announced the league's year-end awards. Three LMU Lions earned recognition, with the 12 WCC head coaches voting Myron "MJ" Amey Jr.,
Rodney Brown Jr., and
Jalen Shelley to the 2026 West Coast Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Amey led the Lions in scoring this season and ranked ninth in the conference with 14.7 points per game. Amey finished third in the WCC with 80 made threes this season and ninth in total field goals with 156. Defensively, LMU's captain ranked sixth in the conference with 46 steals and 1.46 steals per game.
Brown also finished the regular season as one of the top 10 scorers in the WCC, averaging 14.2 points per game. No player in the conference hit more threes than Brown, who knocked down 86 triples for a rate of 2.87 threes per game.
Shelley emerged this season as a double-double threat, finishing with the fourth-most in the WCC with six. Shelley led the Lions in rebounding this year and ranked sixth in the conference with 6.6 boards per game. His defensive rebound numbers ranked third in the league at 5.56 per game. Shelley ranked 13
th in the conference at 13.7 points per game.
This is the first time that LMU has produced three members of the WCC All-Conference Honorable Mention team since Jeff Fryer, Bo Kimble, and Enoch Simmons were named Honorable Mention selections in 1989.
The WCC last recognized three or more players from the Lions with end-of-season awards in Head Coach
Stan Johnson's first season in 2021. Eli Scott earned All-WCC First Team Honors, Dameane Douglas and Keli Leaupepe were named to the Honorable Mention Team, and Jalin Anderson earned All-Freshman team recognition.
The Lions will open the 2026 Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Championship on Thursday night at 8:30 PM against San Diego. The entire event will run from March 5-10 at the Orleans Arena. Tickets to the tournament are
