McBride Sets New Career-High in Regular Season Finale

LOS ANGELES – LMU men's basketball closed out the regular season on Saturday night in a game that began with the recognition of the senior class. The Lions honored Myron "MJ" Amey Jr., Kevin Carney, Rokas Jocius, and Nakyel Shelton ahead of their final home games at Gersten Pavilion. This was also the final game at Hank's House for Rick Issanza, who was recognized as part of last year's senior festivities. LMU fell to Seattle, 71-66, despite a career-high performance from Aaron McBride.

Jocius opened the game with a converted and-1 to put the first points on the board.

After Seattle tied the game at 5-all, Rodney Brown Jr. hit his first of four threes. The Redhawks scored the next seven points that was ended with a three for his only points of the day.

Aaron McBride started and ended a run of 13 points in a row for the Lions. McBride accounted for seven points in the stretch, including a three to push the lead to eight with 5:45 to play in the half. Brown Jr. scored the other six on back-to-back triples.

McBride's layup at the end of the half gave LMU a 32-29 lead at intermission. McBride scored 11 of his team-high 21 points in the first half.

LMU's largest lead of the second half came with a McBride layup to push the score to 42-35 with 13:49 to play.

The Lions remained on top until a 7-0 run by the visitors turned a three-point deficit into a four-point Seattle U lead with 2:03 to play.

Jan Vide hit a jumper with 30 seconds left to make it a one-possession game. Vide scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, including 12 of LMU's final 13 points over the last 7:41 of the game.
Issanza grabbed 10 rebounds, the most against Division I competition in his career.

LMU will now shift focus entirely to the WCC Championship in Las Vegas. The event will run from March 5-10 at the Orleans Arena. Tickets to the tournament is available here. The West Coast Conference will officially release the bracket with times Sunday morning.
