Complete 2015 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's All-West Region Teams
LOS ANGELES -- A trio of LMU women's soccer players were named to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-West Region Teams, released by the organization Thursday. Seniors Jocelyn Blankenship and Callie Taylor earned First Team honors while classmate Morgan Hilby was named to the region's Second Team.
Adding to the season's ever growing list of records and firsts, this marks the first time that the Lions have placed three individuals on the NSCAA All-West Region squads.
Blankenship earns her third career honor and is a First Team selection for the first time. She was a Third Team selection in 2012 and 2014. The Eastvale, Calif., native paced the Lions with seven goals and eight assists for a team-high 22 points this fall. She was one of seven players to start all 22 matches, scored two game-winning goals and had the assist on six additional game-winners.
Taylor, also named the West Coast Conference Co-Defender of the Year, anchored the Lion defense all season long. LMU gave up just a 1.01 goals against average and posted 12 shutouts, one shy of the all-time program record. Taylor also stepped up front for a number of set pieces, scoring a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the Lions' 1-0 shutout of Cal in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Hilby, also an All-WCC First Team selection had five goals and three assists for 13 points. She tied for the team lead with three game-winners, including victories over Saint Mary's, Portland and Gonzaga. Her goal in the 41st minute against Portland was historic, giving the Lions their first-ever win over their WCC foe.
The 2015 LMU women's soccer season concluded in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. The Lions finished 15-6-1 overall and 7-2-0 in WCC play, setting program records for overall wins and league wins along the way.
