LOS ANGELES - LMU and Pacific played to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Sullivan Field in a tightly contested matchup on Saturday night.
Callan Harrington provided the standout moment for LMU, converting a well-orchestrated team move in the 67th minute.
Cameron Bourne and
Hailee Takao combined beautifully to set up Harrington, whose glancing header found the back of the net and gave the home side a crucial advantage. Takao switched the attack to the far side before Bourne blasted in a cross that Harrington met with the back of her head for her fifth goal of the season.
The Lions had created dangerous opportunities throughout the second half. In the 53rd minute, a well-worked sequence saw
Kylie Dobbs force a save when Harrington nodded a ball into the danger area that Dobbs headed forcefully towards goal, but Pacific goalkeeper Lis van Herwijnen made a crucial save to deny what could have been the opening goal.
Harrington was a constant threat in the attacking third, forcing van Herwijnen into several saves as LMU pressed for control in the second period. The home side dominated stretches of play, particularly in the minutes following their goal, generating multiple corner kicks and forcing the visiting goalkeeper into reactive situations.
Pacific equalized just 11 minutes later when Whitney Garn capitalized in the 78th minute, courtesy of an assist from Taylor Curtis, leveling the match and forcing both teams to settle for the draw.
The Lions will host Pepperdine on Wednesday night at Sullivan Field with the match scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (PT).
