LOS ANGELES, Calif. – LMU women's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to Saint Mary's at Sullivan Field Saturday afternoon, falling to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in West Coast Conference play. The Gaels improved to 7-1-2 (2-0-1 WCC) with the victory.
Saint Mary's forward Ashlyn Vaughn scored the lone goal of the match in the 58th minute, giving the Gaels all they would need to secure three points on the road. The unassisted goal proved to be the difference in a defensively focused contest.
Goalkeeper
JJ Hoover made seven saves for the Lions, including several key stops to keep the match within reach. The Lions created opportunities through
Taylor Person and
Callan Harrington, who each recorded shots on target that were saved by Saint Mary's goalkeeper Kate Plachy.
LMU will look to regroup when they travel to face Gonzaga on October 8th as conference play continues.
