PULLMAN, Wash. – LMU women's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision at Washington State on Saturday evening at Lower Soccer Field, falling to 5-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in West Coast Conference play. The Cougars improved to 4-5-4 (2-2-1 WCC) with the victory.
Journey Middleborn scored for Washington State in the 29th minute, assisted by Audrey Shackelford and Ava Ghoreishi, to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at halftime. Jordyn Young extended the Cougars' advantage in the 66th minute with an assist from Isabelle Wright.
Goalkeeper JJ Hoover made eight saves for the Lions. Washington State goalkeeper Zora Standifer recorded three saves to earn the shutout.
Midfielder Hailee Takao made her collegiate debut for LMU, appearing as a substitute in the 64th minute.
The Lions return home to face Pacific on Saturday, October 18 at Sullivan Field.
