LOS ANGELES – For the fourth consecutive season under Head Coach
Stan Johnson, LMU men's basketball has two players selected to the West Coast Conference's All-Academic Team.
Rick Issanza and
Alex Merkviladze have been voted to the league's All-Academic team with
Lamaj Lewis earning Honorable Mention recognition.
Both Issanza and Merkviladze have already received undergraduate degrees from LMU and are both in the process of earning their master's degrees in educational studies.
Lamaj Lewis is majoring in sociology and is set to graduate this spring following his four-year career with the program. This is the first recognition from the WCC for these three players.
In the five seasons under Johnson, LMU has had nine WCC All-Academic Team selections and four honorable mention team selections.
The Lions have earned a first-round bye in the 2025 CU1 WCC Basketball Championships and will open the tournament on Friday at 8:30 PM on ESPN+. All WCC Championship games will be played at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
