LOS ANGELES – The Lions celebrated big wins this week as Jiana Lawson was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week and Kalani Hayes earned WCC Offensive Player of the Week honors. This marks the first Player of the Week recognition this season for both Lawson and Hayes.

Lawson finished the week with 15 blocks and 24 points. She led the Lions defense against the Pilots with seven blocks, averaging 2.33 blocks per set, and contributed 10 points. In the comeback win over Oregon State, she stood out with eight blocks and 14 points, playing a key role in the Lions victory.

Hayes also had an exceptional week, finishing with 21 kills, a .541 hitting percentage, and only one error, totaling 26.5 points with an average of 3.3 points per set. In the win against Oregon State, Hayes led the Lions with 16 kills, averaging 3.20 per set, with a strong .625 hitting percentage and 18 points, averaging 3.6 per set.

The Lions will face the Washington State Cougars on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 6 PM in Gersten Pavilion.
