LOS ANGELES – LMU women's volleyball head coach Trent Kersten continues his involvement with the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program. He has been selected as a coach for the NTDP Summer Training Series in Fort Lauderdale.
"It's an honor to continue to be involved in the National Team Development Program", said Kersten. "Getting to work with some of the most elite athletes and the best coaches from across the country is an incredible opportunity; especially considering our community, in LA, will be hosting the Olympics in 2028."
The mission of the National Team Development Program (NTDP) is to identify, recruit and accelerate the development of high-potential junior volleyball athletes for the purpose of achieving sustained international competitive excellence.
As a NTDP coach, Kersten works primarily with the U18 and U19 teams. Kersten's additional experience working at the national level includes coaching the 2019 team which won a gold medal at the High-Performance Championships. He has also assisted at the USA Volleyball Women's National Team Open Program tryouts which in 2023 featured Sam Hastings, Kari Geissberger, and Jacquelyn Moore.
Kersten was hired at LMU in January of 2023 and enters his first season leading the Lions. LMU will begin play this August, with Kersten set to make his debut with on the Bluff on Sept. 7.
