Urbana, IL – LMU men's golf is in second place following two rounds of play at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate. The field is chasing hosts Illinois, but the Lions hold a three-stroke lead on the third-place team after shooting 296-293—589 over the first two rounds on Saturday.
LMU has two players in the top-10 of the player leaderboard.
Tony Hendricks is tied for fourth at 71-73—144 and
Riley Lewis is tied for ninth with his back-to-back rounds of 73 to sit at 146. Both Hendricks and Lewis have six birdies apiece.
Trevor Algya is tied for 13
th at 76-72—148 and leads LMU with seven birdies.
Brendan Gonzalez (76-81—157) and
Cade Anderson (85-75—160) close out the five competing for the team.
LMU collectively have recorded the second-most birdies, with 22 as a team.
The Lions also have
Caden McMackin competing as an individual. McMackin shot 80-77—157 in his opening day.
Tee times for the final round are scheduled to begin Sunday at 8:30 AM eastern time, with a shotgun start of 12-minute increments from Hole 1, for the five competing for the team. The individuals begin on Hole 10 beginning with McMackin at 8:24 AM.
