LMU's offense exploded for 13 runs on 13 hits, including six doubles and two homers, as the Lions (13-12, 6-1 WCC) recorded a 13-4 victory over Pacific (8-16, 1-6 WCC) on Thursday night from Klein Family Field in Stockton, Calif.
OFFENSIVE LIONS OF THE GAME: While LMU used a balanced offensive attack, senior Jamey Smart guided the way once again, finishing 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI to extend his hit streak to 12 games. Nick Sogard, Trevin Esquerra, Brandon Shearer and Dylan Hirsch all finished with two hits, including Esquerra's fourth homer of the year to accompany a double. Shearer also collected a pair of doubles, while Hirsch managed an RBI-double as well. Niko Decolati, who walked twice and was hit by a pitch, went 1-for-2 with three runs scored. Billy Wilson made the most of his one hit, launching a two-run homer in the fourth inning after Hirsch legged out an infield single.
ON THE MOUND: Junior Codie Paiva tossed the first 7.0 innings for LMU, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out four to improve to 3-3 on the year. Freshman Keefer Meehan closed out the victory, logging the final 2.0 scoreless innings and striking out three. Pacific starter Shelby Lackey took the loss, falling to 2-2, after allowing eight runs (six earned) on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
BIG INNINGS: LMU scored two runs in the second and third innings before plating four in the fourth, three in the seventh, and two more in the eighth. Hirsch contributed an RBI-double to highlight the second, while Esquerra's solo-shot capped the two-run third. In addition to Wilson's two-run homer in the fourth, Smart singled home a run to extend his hit streak. Three straight doubles in the seventh resulted in three runs, and Smart finished his stellar day with an RBI-double in the eighth to help LMU run away with the victory.

LION NOTES: LMU began the year 3-10 for the first time since 2010 ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬¦ that 2010 team went on to win five straight and 10 of the next 11 ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬¦ the Lions are now 10-2 since the 3-10 start this year, including winning seven straight to start the string.
