Last Time Out
Nikki Martino put LMU on the board just 20 minutes into play at Oklahoma, but the Sooners netted four goals in the final 30 minutes to take the game, 4-1.
"The good thing about the trip is you walk out of there knowing you have a lot to work on and you don't leave there thinking that you're this great team and you're just going to roll over everybody," stated Myers. "I think it was a real big gut check for us and one that made us realize that there are a lot of little details that we still have to work on getting right."
Recap: Second Half the Difference.
First Half Fury
LMU has wasted no time in getting on the board early this season. Maddie Medved netted the Lions first goal of the season just 35 minutes into play in the opener against Tulsa, and Martino scorched the back of the net just 20 minutes into action at Oklahoma.
About CSU Bakersfield
The 'Runners enter Sunday's match with a 1-1-0 mark and are coming off a 4-2 thumping of Fresno State. Sabrina Delgado was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after netting a pair of goals against the Bulldogs.
"Bakersfield is one of those teams that you can't overlook," remarked Myers. "They've got a new coach, we haven't played them since they got a new coach. We know he's done a great job in his recruiting and what he's teaching them there."
The Series
LMU has gotten the upper hand over CSU Bakersfield, taking all five matches and outscoring the 'Runners, 14-1. The Lions have netted a trio of scores in four of its five matchups, and will resume the series after a three-year hiatus.
"The nice thing is we're playing at home," said Myers. "It's huge for us. If we can go into that game and take care of those little details, hopefully score a goal early, if we can do that then I think things will continue to flow in the game. The longer they keep us out of goal, it can become a challenge."
