Aug. 25, 2016 Striving to be #LIONSTRONG, LMU has many things to do throughout the school year within and around the Westchester campus. As students return for Move-In Weekend 2016, fall sports get things started with a bang. Here is What To Watch For (#W2W4) for move-in weekend.
#W2W4: SWEET 16 HOMECOMINGS
A pair of teams that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2015 return to action with their first home games of the new year, looking to build on their record-setting success. Women's volleyball will host the annual LMU Volleyball Invitational with four teams playing six total games, two on Friday (home opener vs. Illinois St. at 6:30 pm) and four on Saturday. Women's Soccer will host CSU Bakersfield on Sunday for their home opener.
The featured showdown of the LMU Invitational is women's volleyball taking on UCLA at 7 pm on Aug. 27. It has become a feature match-up with the Lions winning the last two in posting back-to-back trips to the NCAA tournament, including the program's second Sweet 16. And to commemorate, the first 200 in attendance will receive the Sweet 16 Commemorative Drinking Mug! A limited edition, one-time collectable to honor the Lions Sweet 16 team. Don't miss a classic match-up against two of the nation's best and get the collectable Sweet 16 Mug!
The women's soccer game on Sunday against the Roadrunners begins at 1 pm, but the action begins long before that with the COMMUNITY TAILGATE at 12 pm. Grab lunch from one of the gourmet food trucks FOR FREE with purchase of soccer ticket. And the tickets to the game are discounted if you say you are here for the community tailgate. Just go to the ticket office and say, COMMUNITY TAILGATE and get adult tickets for just $5! RSVPs are appreciated but not required, by calling 310-338-2759. On top of that, there is more...
