PARIS, France - The LMU women's basketball team continued their #ROARINGthroughEUROPE campaign with a stop in Paris, France for its final two games of its tour.
The Lions fell to Chartres, a renowned club team, on Sunday by 12 points. The team rebounded with its best outing of its European tour the following day, topping All Star 91 by 20 points.
Following the opening game, the team toured several landmarks in Paris, including Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Musee D'Orsay, the Louvre, Sacre-Coeur and Galeries Lafayette.
The touring continued the following day as the squad embarked on a two-hour sightseeing tour of the city before taking the court for the final time.
"We played our best game by far," remarked Head Coach Charity Elliott after the 20-point thrashing. "We finished 2-2 after we lost last night to a very good club team. Tonight we seemed to put it all together and had some great action!"
Following the conclusion of competition, the team handed out awards to recognize outstanding performances.
Freshman Cierra Belvin was named the team's Spark Plug, while fellow newcomers in Raychel Stanley and Brittney Reed were also recognized. Stanley earned the title of Queen of the Paint and Reed was named the Most Improved Player. Senior Jackie Johnson claimed the Glue award, and Junior Makenzie Cast took home Team MVP honors to round out the award winners.
"I just can't describe how amazing this trip has been and seeing the evolution of our team in such a short time," remarked Elliott. "Thank you Bill for letting us do it."
