LOS ANGELES - The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2015-16 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball All-Academic Team and LMU sophomore Steven Haney Jr. has been named First-Team WCC All-Academic.

The list is dominated by debut first team appearances. This season no fewer than nine newcomers qualified for the WCC All-Academic first team, besting the previous record of eight set just last season. At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.

Haney, who is in his first season of competition at LMU after transferring in 2014-15, has a 3.28 GPA as a Communications major. He has played in all 27 games, starting 22. He seventh in the WCC averaging 2.3 three-pointers per game. He has 62 so far this season, hitting five on Thursday against Santa Clara.

He is currently ranked 16th all-time for three-pointers made in a season and his 180 attempts is ranked ninth. He is third on the team with 9.7 points per contest while also averaging 1.2 assists and 0.7 steals per contest.

On Saturday, Feb. 20 the Lions host San Francisco for the annual Family Weekend game. It is the West Coast Conference Game of the Week. The Family Weekend Tailgate Party starts at 11:30 am on Hannon Field and then Time Warner Cable SportsNet will air This Week in the WCC live from Gersten Pavilion at 12:30 pm. Tip-off will then be at 1 pm between the Dons and Lions.
