Junior Hannah Calton, who sits second all-time at LMU in the 200 IM, won the event with a mark of 2:07.95 on Saturday in a dual meet at UC Davis. The native of Granite Bay, Calif. also posted a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly as the Lions dropped the meet to the Aggies, 160-112.
Senior Kristen Clarno registered a pair of top-three finishes, first taking third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.41. Clarno returned to the water in the 100 freestyle, finishing second in the event with a time of 53.38 as the Lions went 2-3-4. Kristen Brennand took third in 53.85, followed by Isabel Willis at 54.11. The freshman Willis would also add a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:57.14)
LMU turned in a handful of additional second-best swims, with Brennand stopping the clock at 24.67 in the 50 freestyle. Stephanie Horwitz placed second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:14.34 before rounding out a solid day with a time of 10:51.17 to place third in the 1000 freestyle.
Like Horwitz, Mary Kate Reid also had a second and third-place finish in a pair of events. Reid took second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:27.26, and finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.37).
Kailee Mora recorded LMU's final individual second-place finish on Saturday, finishing as the runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 58.98. Brennand, Willis, Calton and Clarno completed competition for LMU with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.54.
LMU will return to action on Saturday when it travels to San Diego for a meet against USD at Noon.
