LOS ANGELES - Day two of the PCSC conference championships saw eight Lions return for the evening finals.
Starting off the finals was the 'splash and dash' 200-freestyle relay where the Lions move up from their seventh place seed to place fifth with season best splits from the sprint quartet of
Abby Shaw (24.33),
Maddie Nguyen (24.37),
Lauren Kim (24.16) and
Lia Murray (24.16).
In the three individual events contested on day two, LMU returned two finalists in each.
Natalie Hogenboom and
Mackenzie Kawashiri returned to the blocks following their career-best performance in the 1000 freestyle on Wednesday, to place 12th and 24th in the 500-freestyle with Hogenboom again achieving a "PB" of 5:08.13. In the 200-Individual Medley that followed, two freshmen returned to the finals for the Lions with
Adele Kopis placing 16
th and
Ellie Davis placing 22
nd.
The final event of the evening returned Shaw and Kim to the blocks for the 50 freestyle final. Shaw touched the wall in 12
th place with a 24.42 while Kim finished in 17
th with a career-best performance of 24.50.
LMU currently stands in sixth place, five points behind Concordia University while Biola University leads the competition.
The Lion swimmers return to the pool at 9:30 Friday for preliminary heats of day three.
