LOS ANGELES - Four Lions were named to the 2014 West Coast Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic Teams, the league office announced Friday. Leading the way for LMU was Jenni Benger, who earned First Team honors. Jocelyn Blankenship, Sophia Leksan and Cassidy Nicks were all named to the Honorable Mention Team.
This marks the third WCC All-Academic honor for Benger, who was named to the Honorable Mention team in 2012 and 2013. The redshirt senior carries a 3.63 cumulative GPA and is set to graduated with a degree in Health & Human Sciences.
Blankenship was also named to the WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2013 as a sophomore. The junior midfielder holds a 3.22 cumulative GPA and is majoring in biology.
The honorable mention honors are career firsts for Leksan and Nicks. Leksan, a sophomore goalkeeper, carries a 3.33 GPA while pursuing a degree in Applied Information Management Systems. Nicks, a junior defender, has a 3.35 cumulative GPA and is a marketing major.
The Lions close out the 2014 season Saturday night at Sullivan Field, hosting San Diego at 7 p.m.
