Hoover Collects Twelfth Career Shutout in 0-0 Draw

LOS ANGELES – LMU women's soccer battled UC Davis to a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon at Sullivan Field. With the result, the Lions move to 2-2-1 on the year.

The match was tightly contested from start to finish, with both sides creating chances but unable to break through. LMU tallied 19 shots with six on target, while UC Davis recorded 20 shots, forcing goalkeeper JJ Hoover into five saves to secure her first shutout of the season.

The Lions looked most dangerous on set pieces, finishing with an
8-5 edge in corner kicks and generating pressure throughout the final third. UC Davis goalkeeper Cat Pieper kept the visitors level with six saves of her own as the defenses held strong on both sides.

The Lions almost saw a breakthrough in the closing
minute when Grace Thao darted from her spot in the midfield to collect a long ball from Alice Santen. She was ruled offside before she could fire a shot into the top corner.

LMU will now turn its attention to the road, traveling to UC Riverside for its next match on
Thursday, Sept. 18.
