LOS ANGELES – The LMU women's soccer team trailed for over an hour of play, but a pair of goals just ahead of the 70th minute flipped the game around and helped secure the Lions their first home win to start the season.
Columbia capitalized on a corner kick less than seven minutes into the game as a deflected ball found the foot of Krystal Medina at the top of the box for the game's first goal.
The score remained through halftime, despite that shot being the only one recorded for the visitors.
LMU found the game tying goal in the 67th minute as Taylor Person headed in a cross from the foot of Taylor Bourne just in front of net. The goal for Person was the first of her collegiate career.
The scoreline was tied at 1-1 for just over a minute until Callan Harrington scooped up a dropped ball from the visiting goalkeeper and knocked in the game-winner. Harrington's goal is her second this season and fifth over two seasons with the Lions. The graduate student also scored the game-winning goal earlier this season against at UC Santa Barbara.
The Lions will remain at home for their next two games. LMU will host Cal State Fullerton on Saturday evening and then welcome UC Davis to Sullivan Field the following Thursday before leaving for their final non-conference game of the season.
