LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU men's basketball team has announced its 2011-12 non-conference schedule, one that will feature 10 home games in a season the University celebrates its Centennial. In addition to the schedule release, 2011-12 LMU Basketball Season Tickets are now available.

LMU's Centennial Season will be a special one as it features 18 LMU home games (17 regular season and one exhibition) and a total of 21 NCAA Division I basketball games. The Lions will host their first regular season tournament since 1992-93 and with it, will set the record for home games at Gersten Pavilion.

The Lions will host the 2011 Centennial Classic on Dec. 2-4 for its first tournament since the L.A. Classic in 1992-93 when they hosted Cal State Northridge and Michigan State. This year's field will include La Sierra, North Texas, and Columbia.

The tournament will feature six games over the three days and with BYU adding another WCC home game, the Lions will play on their home floor 17 times in the regular season, eclipsing the previous record of 16 set in 1996-97.

"We are very excited to be hosting a tournament at home this season," said Head Coach Max Good. "The tournament is a great way to add to our home schedule, one in which this season is a tough one. Add to that trips to UCLA, Idaho State, Florida State and Morgan State, and we have a schedule that will really challenge us and help us prepare for a WCC schedule that just got a whole heck of a lot tougher."

The Lions will play an exhibition game at home on Tuesday, Nov. 1 against La Verne before opening the Centennial Season against UCLA at the L.A. Sports Arena on Friday, Nov. 11. The Lions will then return to Gersten Pavilion two days later to take on Middle Tennessee State in the home opener on Sunday, Nov. 13. LMU will then take on Harvard on Saturday, Nov. 19 in one of five opponents in the 2011-12 season that went to the NCAA postseason.

"As a whole our schedule's preseason RPI is lower than it has been in recent years," said Good. "UCLA doesn't need explanation, Harvard was one of the better teams a year ago in the nation, Florida State went deep into the NCAA Tournament and there are more, including Brackbusters in February. And that is just non-conference."

Following a trip to Idaho State on Nov. 23, the Lions will return to Gersten Pavilion to take on Northern Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 26 for the nightcap of a tripleheader with the women's Thanksgiving Classic.

The game against Northern Arizona starts a stretch of six straight home games for the Lions. The longest home stretch since the Lions played six straight at home to start the 1995-96 campaign.

Following the Lumberjacks, the Lions will face Saint Louis on Tuesday, Nov. 29. LMU will then host their Centennial Classic, which will feature the LMU men's basketball non-conference Centennial Game on Friday as they take on Columbia at 7 p.m.

In celebration of the Centennial, LMU will host a Centennial game for each of its programs, hosting one in non-conference and one in conference for both men's and women's basketball. The game for men's basketball will feature special promotions centered around LMUat100 and will be a part of a weekend long celebration, which will also include a Hall of Fame Reunion event on Saturday.

The Lions will then end the home stretch with a second match-up with Idaho State, this one on Dec. 10. The Lions will finish non-conference at Florida State on Dec. 18 and then Morgan State on Dec. 21.

West Coast Conference play will then begin a week early, starting on Dec. 29. The Lions will use one of their single-game weeks on Feb. 17-19 to host an ESPN Bracketbusters game. Game date and time will be released in late January 2012.
