Men's Golf Gives Back

Feb. 1, 2011

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Members of the LMU Men's Golf team took time give back and help out at the Whittier Narrows Golf Club, January 29th, by participating in the First Tee Program alongside the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Freshmen Tyler Torano and Parker Middleton, alongside Junior Andrew Waldron took on the role as coaches for a day as they helped local kids understand the ins and outs of the sport of golf in an effort to spread the positive values and outcomes the sport has to offer. Activities ranged from skill stations, skin safety, and a Q &A session to follow. The goals of the day were to teach wellness and skill to kids interested in golf as well as give them the opportunity to interact with collegiate athletes.

The collaboration of the First Tee Program and the Golf Coaches Association seeks to promote the development of youth through the sport of golf while making an effort to promote high school graduation rates as well as aide in the transition to collegiate golf opportunities and beyond. Torano, Middleton, and Waldron are looking to make an impact on the team as they head into the second half of the season. Men's Golf opens the second half of their season February 7 and 8th in Newport Beach and they take part in the 31st Anteater Invitational. Visit LMULions.com for recaps throughout the Invitational.
