Santa Clara, CA - The Loyola Marymount men's basketball team couldn't overcome Santa hot shooting as the Broncos used 61 percent shooting to pull away for an 82-56 win at the Leavey Center in West Coast Conference action on Thursday night.

Doing the damage for the Broncos was James Rahon, who led all scorers with 25 points. He was 8-for-12 from the field, including 5-for-6 from three. Rahon was part of a lights-out shooting effort for the Broncos as they shot 61. 2 percent from the field (30-for-49) compared to the Lions 30.2 percent (19-for-63).
"We have not done a good job on defending the three-point line all season and if we are going to have any success we are going to have learn," said Head Coach Max Good. "You are not going to win anything when allowing someone to shoot 61 percent."
The Lions finished with 14 more shots than the Broncos thanks to forcing Santa Clara into 21 turnovers on nine steals and also earning 18 offensive rebounds compared to just six by Santa Clara. The nation's leading rebounder, Santa Clara's John Bryant finished with 22 rebounds to go with 12 points.
The six rebounds by Young gives him 154 for the season to break the all-time freshman record for rebounds in a season. His two steals gives him 34 on the season to rank third for freshman. DuBois also moved to seventh in scoring, as his 12 points moves him to 295.
The Lions continue their road swing to San Francisco on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM and LMULions.com.
