These past few days have been extremely exciting for the USA volleyball team. Crossing the United States/Mexico border was an adventure in itself. After we flew into San Diego, we drove through the border to Mexicali. While pulling over at the border, we all were told to step out of the bus and play a fun little "game."

Hughes to Compete at Pan American Cup

Former Lions Named to USA Volleyball Board of Directors

SYNOPSIS: Two former LMU volleyball standouts have been named to the 16-member USA Volleyball Board of Directors, it was announced on May 8. U.S. indoor National Team members Sarah Noriega and Reid Priddy will be the new Athlete Directors for the indoor volleyball discipline.

Heather Hughes in China, Sarah Noriega in Puerto Rican Super League, Danalee Corso Hired by USA Volleyball Beach Program

SYNOPSIS: Former Lions Heather Hughes, Sarah Noriega and Danalee Corso continue to progress and impress as part of the U.S. National Team program. Hughes recently concluded an eight-match exhibition tour of China, on which Team USA finished with a 5-3 record. Noriega, a 2000 U.S. Olympian attempting to make a comeback, was assigned by the National Team to play for the Caguas Criollas of the Puerto Rican Super League. Corso was recently hired to handle vital parts of the USA Volleyball beach program.

Heather Hughes Named to USA Volleyball's Travel Training Team

SYNOPSIS: Former Lion Heather Hughes was named to the U.S. Women's National Training Volleyball Team travel squad that will take a three-week training tour of China that will lead the team to four different locations for training sessions and exhibition matches against Chinese club teams.

Name three things that most people do not know about you. 1. I come from the avocado capitol of the world; 2. I would like to open a bagel and smoothie shop on the beach one day; 3. orange and yellow are my favorite colors.
What do you like to do in your spare time? go to the beach

Heather Hughes to Train with U.S. National Team, Sarah Noriega Returns for Another Stint
RELEASED: January 23, 2008
SYNOPSIS: Following a successful tryout last week, Heather Hughes was selected to train with the U.S. National Team this spring and compete for a tournament roster spot in the summer. Hughes, a native of Fallbrook, Calif., is one of 10 players selected to train with the team, U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Head Coach "Jenny" Lang Ping announced on Monday. In addition, Lang Ping announced 2000 Olympian and former LMU standout Sarah Noriega (Ulysses, Kan.) has returned to the team to train and is working toward earning a roster spot for the 2008 Olympics. She did not compete in the 2004 Olympics. Noriega served as an intern with the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs last year.
