Final Stats
Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 8) - The Loyola Marymount University men's basketball played all 12 healthy players in a full 40-minute game, equally a full 200 minutes of action for both teams in the 2005 Crimson/Navy Game at Gersten Pavilion on Tuesday night. Team White earned an 84-64 win as the Lions head into their only true exhibition game of the season on Saturday against Cal State San Bernardino.
Five players scored in double figures for Team White as the six-member team played all 200 minutes. The same could be said for Team Navy as its six players played all 200 minutes with three players going for double digits. Senior Chris Ayer led all players with 22 points and 10 rebounds, hitting 10-for-12 from the field with no turnovers.
Juniors Matthew Knight and John Montgomery led Team Navy with 19 each. Montgomery went 4-for-7 from the three-point line and finished 7-for-11 from the field in 35 minutes. Team White out rebounded Navy 42-28 as both Daryl Pegram and Dustin Brown added nine rebounds each to Ayer's 10. Brown finished with 18 points and Pegram with 12.
The Lions will take on Cal State San Bernardino at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday. The game can be heard live on Lions' All-Access through KXLU 88.9 FM and on the internet at LMULions.com.
The Coyotes will not be a typical exhibition for the Lions. As one of the elite programs in NCAA Division II, Cal State San Bernardino has won the CCAA Championship the last six seasons to advance to the NCAA Tournament. They finished 21-6 overall and 16-4 in the CCAA. The 21 wins last season was its lowest season total since 1997-98 when they had 12.
