Bianca Mejia’s Championship Legacy Celebrated with LIU Hall of Fame Induction

BROOKVILLE, NY - Loyola Marymount softball assistant coach Bianca Mejia has been honored as part of the Long Island University Athletics Hall of Fame Centennial Class, with the historic 2010 LIU softball team earning induction following one of the most successful seasons in program history.

The 2010 LIU squad left a lasting mark, finishing 39-18 overall while setting a Division I program record for wins. The team captured the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, establishing a championship standard that continues to resonate within the program.

At the heart of that success was Mejia, whose standout performance defined the season. She was named the 2010 NEC Player of the Year after leading the conference in both batting average and home runs, serving as a consistent and powerful presence in the lineup. Her dominance at the plate and leadership on the field helped propel LIU to one of its most successful campaigns in program history.

Mejia's impact extended well beyond a single season. A three-time First Team All-NEC selection, she also earned consensus All-American honors in 2009, along with back-to-back NFCA All-Region and ECAC All-Star recognitions in 2009 and 2010. Her decorated career reflects not only elite performance, but a standard of excellence that defined her time at LIU.

Now in her third season as an assistant coach with LMU softball, Mejia continues to pour that same passion and competitive spirit into the Lions' program. Known for her energy, relatability, and commitment to player development, she has played an integral role in fostering a culture built on accountability, confidence, and belief.

Her journey - from a record-setting player and national standout to a coach shaping the next generation - has made a lasting impression on LMU student-athletes already. Mejia's ability to connect her experiences at the highest level of collegiate softball with the everyday growth of her players has helped elevate the program both on and off the field.

This Hall of Fame recognition not only celebrates a historic team and a remarkable playing career, but also highlights the continued impact Mejia is making in the game today. At LMU, her softball legacy is not just remembered, it's being lived out through the players she mentors and the culture she helps build every day.
