GOLETA, Calif. – LMU men's golf shot the best second round of the field on Monday to move into a tie for second in the UCSB Gaucho Invitational. The Lions moved up to 12-under on the day with a 287-277—564 to tie Utah and only trail Nevada.
Alejandro Alonso led the Lions with his 5-under, 71-68—139 over the first two rounds. Alonso recorded an Eagle on Hole 1 in both Rounds 1 and 2 and added five birdies to sit in a tie for sixth and five strokes off the lead.
Riley Lewis is tied for 12
th with his 72-70—142. Lewis leads the team with six birdies.
Tied at a stroke under par,
Mason Snyder shot 72-71—143 and
Trevor Algya followed his opening round 75 with a 68 in the second round.
Caden McMackin shot a 72-74—146 and is tied for 27
th in the 71-player field.
Competing as individuals,
Cade Anderson shot 75-72—147 and
David Gutierrez started strong with a 70 before shooting 82 to close the day.
Round 3 begins Tuesday morning with spilt tee #1/#10 tee times beginning at 7:30 AM.
