BREMERTON, Wash. – Over the last three seasons,
Riley Lewis has finished first or tied for first at the West Coast Conference Championships. Lewis shot 10-under to finish as one of three players to shoot 206 through three rounds.
With the tie, Lewis and the pair of Brady Siravo and William Walsh completed in a playoff tiebreaker to determine the WCC's individual champion. The playoff was determined in five holes as Sirvano pulled ahead of the other two to claim the individual title.
After opening his day with a bogie on one, Lewis used five birdies the rest of the way to lower his score to 3-under for the round and 10-under for the tournament. Lewis was the only player to shoot all three rounds in the 60s, finishing his rounds at 69-68-69—206.
Four Lions finished in the top-20 as
Alejandro Alonso (69-73-73—215) and
Trevor Algya (69-72-74—215) tied for 14
th place.
Caden McMackin finished a stroke back at 69-72-75—216 and in a tie for 19
th.
Mason Snyder shot his best round on Saturday and jumped 12 positions in the leaderboard to place in a tie for 27
th at 74-80-66—220. Snyder's 66 was the low for the day of all 40 golfers.
In the team race, LMU finished 21-under and placed third at 276-285-282—843. The Lions shared low-round honors with Pepperdine after each team shot 6-under on Saturday.
LMU will compete in match play on Sunday, beginning with the semifinals with a. head-to-head against the Waves. Pepperdine finished as the 2-seed, a stroke ahead of LMU. San Diego and Saint Mary's will pair up against each other in the other semifinal of match play.
Matchups will begin at 7:30 AM from the tenth hole and follow in nine-minute intervals. Algya will tee off first, followed by Snyder then Lewis, McMackin, and Alonso.
