LOS ANGELES – LMU's
Riley Lewis is headed to the Morgan Hill NCAA Regional after being named as an individual selection on Wednesday. Coming off his playoff round at the WCC Championships, Lewis will compete in the three-day, 54-hole tournament at The Institute Club Hosted by San Jose State University and San Jose Sports Authority. The three rounds will be played over the course of May 15-17.
The WCC All-Conference performer has totaled six top-10 and four top-5 finishes this season and is averaging 71.60 strokes per round. He was named WCC Golfer of the month for April.
This is also the fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament that Head Coach Jason D'Amore's Lions will have representation. Riley Elmes competed in the NCAA Pacific Regional in 2018 and the NCAA Stanford Regional in 2019.
Gavin Cohen joined Lewis in the NCAA Albuquerque Regional in 2021. Last season, Lewis played in the NCAA Bryan Regional hosted by Texas A&M.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.
The finals are May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
