Lions Break School Record by Six Strokes, Soar into First

KAPOLEI, HI – For the first time in school history, LMU men's golf shot 24-under round. The Lions entered Wednesday's second round of the Kapolei Golf Course tied for sixth, but quickly took the top position in the team race after closing the day with a 264, 10-strokes better than the next closest team.
 
The Lions are 36-under through two days, with the final round of play set for Thursday at Kapolei Golf Course. LMU holds a five-stroke lead on the field at 276-264—540. All six golfers that the Lions brought to Hawaii are between 12-under and par for the event. The team of five has recorded 50 birdies and three eagles.
 
Tony Hendricks is tied for the tournament lead after matching his opening round 66 with a second 66. Hendricks tallied six birdies on the day, three on the front nine and three on the back nine, to bring his tournament total to 12-under, 65-68—132.
 
Sitting in a tie for third, Riley Lewis shot 65-68—133. Lewis added seven birdies to share a team-high mark at 12.
 
Trevor Algya recorded a personal-best 62 to lower his score from even to 72-62—134. Algya ascended to a tie for seventh thanks to his eight birdies and an eagle on 17.
 
Cade Anderson shot four-strokes better than he did a day prior with his 73-69—142, while Mason Snyder improved his score by eight strokes and sits at 76-68—144.
 
Matching his Tuesday score, Individual Caden McMackin shot 69-69—138 with four birdies of his own.
 
The final round will begin with a 9:30 a.m. Hawaiian time shotgun start. Snyder will tee off from Hole 1 followed by his teammates in nine-minute increments. McMackin will begin from the 10th hole at 9:57 a.m. Hawaiian time.
