WCC Release
SAN MATEO, CA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions were picked to finish tied for fourth according to the 2022 West Coast Conference Preseason Rowing Coaches Poll, it was announced today.
In addition to the preseason poll, which is voted solely by the conference's seven head coaches, the WCC also released the 2022 All-WCC Preseason Rowing Team.
Lauren Compeau and
Sophia Jadallah were chosen as two of the 17 rowers in the conference for the honor.
Gonzaga was picked to win the WCC by a five-point margin in the 2022 WCC Rowing Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs amassed 36 points to take first while San Diego tallied 31 points. Gonzaga tallied six first-place votes with the Toreros claiming one. The next three teams in the poll were separated by only three points with Creighton coming in third with 23 points and LMU and Portland tying for fourth with 20 points each.
The All-WCC Preseason Rowing Team is made up of 17 student-athletes from the WCC's seven member institutions. Four of those student-athletes, Gretchen Strobbe from Creighton, Grace Dojan from Gonzaga, LMU's
Lauren Compeau and USD's Isla Blake were named to All-WCC First Team a year ago.
