Internships are very important in one's college career. Internships are a great way to help decide what a student would like, and want, in the professional world. LMU point guard, Se'Quoia Allmond, had the amazing opportunity to intern with the Los Angeles Sparks over summer 2022. The athletic department interviewed Allmond about her internship with the Sparks and what she gained from the experience:
 
Q: What exactly was your internship?
Se'Quoia: "My internship consisted of working with the LA Sparks regarding marketing, branding and event planning."
 
Q: How did you like it?
Se'Quoia: "I loved it! Being able to be more than a fan and be on the inside was very eye opening. Also being able to meet the president was. Amazing especially considering that one day I'll be in the same position owning my own team."
 
Q: What did you learn?
Se'Quoia: "I learned how to work with spreadsheets. I learned how much work it takes to plan an event and how much emphasis has to be put in communication to notify people and get them to come out. The importance of small details is what I learned."
 
Q: What was your favorite thing you did?
Se'Quoia: "My favorite things to do was working the youth camp/events; getting to interact with the kids, be around WNBA players and. Just be on the LA Sparks court."
 
Q: What were some takeaways?
Se'Quoia:  

1. "Working together helps to accomplish the task faster." 
2. "Always be on time"
3. "Pay attention to what you're being asked to do because although everyone has different roles, they are all necessary to reach the end goal."
4. "Take what you're being asked to do and be creative. Be you! People love it!"
5. "Always communicate, leave no room for assumptions."
6. "Embrace every moment and opportunity."

 
Internships can open doors to so many opportunities. Completing an internship will also give students a competitive edge and could help a student earn more job offers post-graduation.
