The Lions enter the tournament with a well balanced attack on offense and one of the best defenses in the country.
LMU will begin their tournament run with the best shutout percentage in the nation at 0.750 along with the second best team goals against average in the country at 0.237. Additionally, the Lions boast the third best save percentage in the nation at 0.900.

Jacob Jackson line was remarkable as he played all 760 minutes between the pipes, allowing just two goals for a 0.24 GAA while making 17 saves. Jackson rated second among NCAA Division I leaders in GAA, fourth in saves percentage (0.895) and fifth in shutouts with six in eight matches.
Jackson became the second WCC goalkeeper in the last two completed seasons to post a WCC-only GAA of better than 0.25. Saint Mary's Remi Prieur allowed one goal in seven matches during the 2019 campaign for a 0.15 GAA – the best in the modern era.

Caliskan appeared and started in all eight games for the Lions and saw 760 minutes of action on the pitch, averaging 1.12 points per match, good for second among conference leaders. Brown's 32 shots on the year leads the Lions and his average of 4.00 shots per game is seventh in the nation.
On defense the Lions feature WCC Defensive Player of the Year and MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List member
Gerardo Lopez. He led the stingiest defensive unit in the WCC, holding conference foes to just two goals in eight matches. LMU allowed just 72 shots and posted six shutouts.
The matchup between the Lions and Golden Eagles will be the second in school history and first in the NCAA tournament. The teams previously played each other during the 2006 season with the Lions claiming a 2-1 victory on Sullivan Field.
The winner of the match will move on to play either No. 3 Indiana and the winner of a play-in game between Milwaukee and St. Francis Brooklyn in a third round game on Thursday, May 6th.
