Loyola Marymount University is excited to announce the addition of three new assistant coaches to its soccer program:
Erik Holt,
Shion Jahangiri, and
Jack Cybulski. Each brings a unique set of skills and a wealth of experience that will contribute to the team's development and success.
Erik Holt rejoins LMU after a stint with UCLA, where he was an influential part of their soccer program. As a former team captain and alumnus of UCLA, Holt brings both leadership and firsthand knowledge of competitive collegiate soccer. His previous tenure at LMU saw him contribute to the development of players who received all-conference honors, including
Anthony Boyadjian,
Ismail Nieves, and
Nathan Rodrigues. Before his coaching career, Holt enjoyed a notable professional career with Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer (MLS), making 42 appearances and scoring his first professional goal in 2021. Holt's background as a player at UCLA, where he earned accolades such as All-Pac-12 first-team selections, underscores his deep connection to the sport and his capacity to mentor young athletes.
Shion Jahangiri joins LMU with extensive expertise in goalkeeping and a robust coaching background. Jahangiri spent eight years at Vanguard University in various coaching capacities, including as the Associate Head Coach. His tenure there was marked by significant achievements, such as guiding goalkeepers to conference-leading performances and individual accolades like NAIA All-American Honorable Mentions. Jahangiri is also the Associate Head Coach for Mater Dei Boys Soccer Varsity and holds prestigious coaching qualifications, including a US Soccer "A" license and a UEFA "B" license. His academic credentials include a degree in Kinesiology and a Master's in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Management and Leadership, reflecting his commitment to both the technical and educational aspects of coaching.
Jack Cybulski transitions to the assistant coach role after serving as LMU's Director of Soccer Operations. His experience includes scouting roles with renowned organizations such as Orlando City SC, LA Galaxy II, and Queensboro FC. Cybulski's scouting acumen and operational expertise are backed by a strong educational foundation, with a Master's degree in Sports Business from New York University. His scouting background will be invaluable in identifying and recruiting talent, enhancing the team's competitive edge.
