Women's Basketball Joins #RaceForChange

Los Angeles – The LMU women's basketball program will be participating in Race for Change, a virtual 5k taking place October 15-18. The race was created by the UC San Diego basketball teams as a way to address racial equality across the country. Each program involved chooses an initiative to fundraise for centered around racial equality. More than 20 universities across the country have signed up to participate in the race.

The LMU Women's Basketball team is committed to working together to strive for justice and creating sustainable change in as many communities as possible.

"We are thrilled to partner with UCSD Women's Basketball by participating with them for the Race for Change," said Head Coach Charity Elliott. "We want to stand up for equality and justice for all and especially our African American players, coaches, and neighbors. We are committed to action, and the Race for Change is one small thing we can do to stand up to end all racism."

The LMU community, supporters, and fans can join on October 17th at 9 am by running on a track, in your neighborhood, or anywhere as long as it's 3.1 miles and socially distanced. Be sure to tag @lmulionsWB and use #RaceForChange when you share photos from your race day.
