The #24/16 Loyola Marymount University Lions men's soccer team (5-1-1) continue their season-long four game road trip with stops in San Luis Obispo and Fullerton this week.
Â
The Lions got their first road victory of the season when they defeated #23 CSUN 2-0 behind the strength of goals scored by
Narciso Cervantes and
Duhaney Williams and another shutout from current West Coast Conference Player of the Week
Jacob Jackson.Â
Â
Jackson has been dominant in goal for LMU during his school record six consecutive game scoreless streak. During the streak he's seen 74 shots and has made 22 saves in a Lions record 560 consecutive scoreless minutes at goal. Jackson's play also sees him tied for first in the nation at goals against average of 0.00 and save percentage of 1.000.
Â
LMU is off to their second-best start under head coach
Paul Krumpe through seven games. The 2002 Lions started the year 5-0-2 en route to 15-4-2 overall record and a victory in the NCAA tournament over CSUN.Â
Â
The trip to SLO is the first for the Lions since the 2016 when LMU netted a 1-0 victory at Alex G. Spanos Stadium. The Lions will make their first visit to Titan Stadium since the 2013 season and play against host #13 Cal State Fullerton. LMU dropped a 1-0 decision to the Titans last year and will look to get back on the winning track Sunday evening.
Â
The Lions are set to kickoff against SLO on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a couple of off days before they go back on the pitch Sunday, Sept. 29 against the Titans with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m.Â
