Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team (7-6, 2-3) battled against Gonzaga on Saturday, but the Lions couldn't take the win, as they fell 4-3 at home.
The Lions struggled in doubles play, as
Elvira Juravliova and
Camila Tumosa were swept 6-0 on court three, while
Eva Marie Voracek and
Veronika Miroshnichenko were beat 6-1, clinching the doubles point for the Bulldogs.
Down 1-0 headed into singles play, the Lions gained some momentum.
Siobhan Anderson fell to Vlada Medvedcova on court three 6-1, 6-3.
Juravliova put the first point on the board for the Lions after picking up a quick 6-2, 6-1 win over Domonique Garley on court four.
Voracek was beat by Graciela Rosas on court two 7-6, 6-0, giving the Bulldogs their third point of the match.
Tumosa beat Kate Ketels on court six, 6-1, 6-4, while Yesica De Lucas beat Haruna Tsuruta on court five, 6-1, 6-5, tying things up.
The match was left up to court one, where Miroshnichenko pushed Whittle to three sets, but couldn't come out with the win, falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, clinching the match for Gonzaga.
The Lions will head to Salt Lake City to make a non-conference stop to take on Utah on Thursday. The team will then head to BYU on Friday and San Diego on Sunday.
