Women’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Recognition; Three Collect Scholar-Athlete Honors

LOS ANGELES, CA - Following another successful season on and off the court, the Loyola Marymount women's tennis program has been recognized for its excellence in the classroom by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Lions were named a 2026 ITA All-Academic Team, while Ada Piestrzynska, Lidia Gonzalez, and Helene Schnack each earned 2026 ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition. The honors were announced by the ITA on Monday, July 13. Teams must post a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 to earn ITA All-Academic Team status, while ITA Scholar-Athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA during the academic year.

The academic recognition caps another strong year for the Lions, who finished the 2026 season with a 12-10 overall record and a 6-3 mark in West Coast Conference play. Under head coach Agustín Moreno, LMU advanced to the WCC Championship semifinals after earning the tournament's No. 4 seed.

Piestrzynska, Gonzalez, and Schnack each received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the classroom while competing at the Division I level.

Gonzalez adds the academic accolade to an impressive graduate campaign that also saw her earn All-WCC Second Team honors in singles. Piestrzynska was recognized on the All-WCC Second Team in doubles, while Schnack continued to make valuable contributions to the Lions throughout her freshman campaign.

The ITA annually recognizes collegiate tennis programs and student-athletes for their academic excellence. The All-Academic Team award honors programs that achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher, while ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition is awarded to student-athletes who maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 during the academic year.
