LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team will kick off conference play this Saturday against rival No. 7 Pepperdine at home.
The Lions (5-3) will go into Saturday's match looking to extend their four-game winning streak, while the last two wins include 4-0 sweeps over Marquette and Cincinnati.
Siobhan Anderson and
Elvira Juravliova are now 4-1 on the season after their wins over Cincinnati, while
Veronica Miroshnichenko leads the Lions at the No. 1 spot and is 3-2 in singles play and 5-2 in doubles play with partner
Eva Marie Voracek.
Last season, the Lions weren't able to beat the then ranked No. 2 team in the nation, as they fell to the Waves 4-1 in Malibu and then fell to them 4-1 in the second round of the conference tournament.
The Lions are looking to pick up their first win over the Waves in more than 15 years and continue their two-year undefeated home record.
Play will start on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at LMU Tennis Center.
