WCC Release
SAN BRUNO – To nobody's surprise, Loyola Marymount senior
Riley Elmes has been named to the 2018-19 West Coast Conference Preseason All-WCC Team, after leading the Lions as a junior and landing a spot in the NCAA Regionals last season.
"I think Riley is expected to be a preseason all-conference guy," said Head Coach
Jason D'Amore. "I think he is somebody who is going to contend for Player of the Year this year."
Elmes was one of three seniors named to the 10-person team, joining Santa Clara's Dereck Ackerman and Pepperdine's Sathith Theegala. Elmes has finished the year as a member of the All-WCC team each of the last two seasons, both as a sophomore and junior.

In addition to the conference coaches voting on the Preseason All-WCC team, the league has announced the preseason rankings as well. LMU has been picked to finish sixth in the conference, the position they finished in last spring at the WCC Championships.
"Being picked sixth this year is not really surprising because I think a lot of people are still waiting to see what our youth does this year," said D'Amore. "I think they will be very surprised with how hot we come out and what we are able to accomplish this year."
Pepperdine received eight of the nine first place votes to lead the field, with BYU receiving the other and finishing in second place. San Francisco was voted ahead of Saint Mary's by a point and Santa Clara and LMU were a point apart between fifth and sixth place. Pacific, San Diego, and Gonzaga rounded out the poll.
