Biography

BRIEFLY... Riley Elmes competed in four seasons of college golf at LMU from 2015-2019... enters his junior season with a career stroke average of 72.42, which is second all-time in program history at the time of his graduation... Elmes boasts the second (71.24 in 2018-19), third (71.33 in 2017-18), and fourth (71.72 in 2016-17) best individual stroke average seasons in program history… Elmes finished his career with 19 top-10 finishes, 16 top-five finishes, and is the only Lion with two career wins… Played the second-most rounds in school history with 134… Named to the WCC All-Conference First Team in three consecutive seasons after earning top-5 finishes in his final three conference tournaments.

IN 2018-19 • SENIOR... Elmes recorded four top-5 finishes in 11 events, including forcing a one-hole playoff for a tie for the WCC Championship (Apr. 25-27, 2019) with a six-under 71-70-69—210 performance and return to the WCC All-Conference First Team… Elmes earned his second-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, where he was selected as the No. 2 individual at the Stanford Regional (May 13-15, 2019) where he shot 69-74-74—217 to place in a tie for 48th… Opened the season at two-over in the two round Golfweek Conference Challenge (Sept. 15-18, 2018) with his 72-74—146… Shot five-over par 71-73-77—221 at the William H Tucker Intercollegiate (Sept. 28-29, 2018)… Earned a runner-up finish at the Paintbrush Intercollegiate (Oct. 8-9, 2018) with his seven-under 68-68-73—209 performance… Shot a second-consecutive seven-under at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational where he finished tied for 14th with his 71-66-72—209… Shot a career-best 66-69-67—202 to finish 14-under par and tie for second place of 80 at the Arizona Intercollegiate (Jan. 28-29, 2019)… Finished under par for the fourth-consecutive tournament with his second-straight second-place finish after shooting 70-72-72—214 at The Farms Invitational (Feb. 11-12, 2019)… Placed 20th at the Southwestern Invitational (Feb. 25-26, 2019) with a 75-73-73—221… Returned under par with a 2-under 74-70-70—214 at The Olympic Club Intercollegiate (Mar. 11-12, 2019) to tie for ninth… Closed out the regular season at the El Macero Classic (Apr. 12-14, 2019) with a top-20 finish and a score of 70-75-75—220.
 
IN 2017-18 • JUNIOR... Elmes recorded seven top-5 finishes in 11 tournaments, including a win at the 2017 Wyoming Southern Dunes Invitational (Oct. 14-15, 2017) where he shot 12-under, 69-65-70--204 and a runner-up finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational (Mar. 26-27, 2018) where he tied the program record with a three-round 71-66-66--203... Placed in the top-five at the West Coast Conference Championships (Apr. 16-18, 2018), where his 71-67-74--212 earned him All-WCC honors for the second-straight season... The junior lowered his stroke average to 71.36 in 2017-18, which currently ranks second all-time in a single season in program history... Became the seventh individual in program history to earn an individual at-large invitation to compete in the NCAA Regionals... In his first NCAA Regional Tournament (May14-16, 2018), Elmes finished in a tie for 16th in the 75 player field with a three-day total of 72-69-72—213, LMU's best NCAA result since 2007.
 
IN 2016-17 • SOPHOMORE... Elmes played all 36 rounds in 12 events as a sophomore...His 71.72 stroke average led the team and was the second lowest in program history since 2003...Led LMU with 5 top-10 finishes and four top-5 finishes...Finished at par or under in more than half his tournaments...Opened the season with a second-place finish at the USF Olympic Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13, 2016) with his 74-66-71--211...Finished 1-under to tie for eighth at the Nick Watney Invitational (Oct. 3-4, 2016) after shooting 70-73-69--212...Earned his second second-place finish at the 21st Del Walker Intercollegiate (Feb. 27-28, 2017) with his 70-66-74--210...Shot a career-best 67-70-71--208 at the GCU Invitational (May 17-18, 2017) to place fifth...Shot a low-round of 65 to open the Ping Cougar Classic...Closed the season with a fourth-place finish at the West Coast Conference Championships (Apr. 19-22, 2017) to finish 6-under, 68-72-70--210 and earn All-WCC recognition.
 
IN 2015-16 • FRESHMAN... finished third on the team after his first season of college golf with a stroke average of 75.39... played in 33 rounds, appearing in 11 events... had nine rounds under par and finished in the top-10 twice, including a a tie for fourth at the Bill Cullum Invitational (10/20/15) with a five-under 211... finished tied for ninth with an even-par 210 at the Del Walker Intercollegiate (3/1/16)... shot a season-low 68 in the second round and followed that with a 69 in the final round... finished tied for 32nd with a 10-over 226 at the 2016 WCC Championships...
 
BEFORE LMU...graduated Lake Oswego High School in 2015 with a 3.4 GPA...played for coach Jason Owens... was named 2014 Oregon Golfer of the Year... was a four-time All-State and All-League selection... had a break-out 2014, highlighted by the Golfer of the Year honor... Lake Oswego has won the state championship all four years of Elmes tenure... His 2014 also included the Junior Amateur Match Play Championship and Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championship. He took fifth place overall in the Hogan Cup on his way to be named conference Player of the Year... He has five top-10 national finishes on the AJGA tour, including second place finishes at the 2013 Sunriver Meadows Open and the 2012 Cypress Ridge. He has three top-10 national finishes on the FCWT, including a win at the PGA West in 2014...
 
PERSONAL... Riley Elmes was born in Torrance, Calif., and is the son of Marybeth and Matthew Elmes... father played golf at USC and Principia College (1983-87)... has a younger sister... he is a Business Marketing major.
