West London, ENGLAND - The LMU women's soccer team wrapped up a perfect 4-0 record on its European Tour, recording a 2-1 win over Charlton on Thursday, August 19.
After a scoreless half, Kelly Lewandowski got the Lions on the board at 46:55. She scored her sixth goal of the trip off of a long throw in from Jennifer Horn. The talented junior put in her seventh goal of the trip at 55:15 to put the Lions up 2-0. Kellie Schroeder assisted on the eventual game-winner.
Charlton Ladies scored their only goal of the game in the 83rd minute off of a penalty kick. Charlton Athletic's first team plays in the National Division of the FA Nationwide Premier League - the top flight of women's soccer in England. The game took place at the Charlton men's soccer home stadium. Charlton Athletic plays in the famed FA Premier League.
Lewandowski finished the trip as the Lions' leading scorer, finishing with seven goals and 15 points in just four games.
Earlier in the day, the team attempted to watch the changing of the Royal Guards at Buckingham Palace. However, the rain did not cooperate and the ceremony was cancelled for the day. The Lions had lunch at Covent Garden where they ran into the LMU men's soccer team during its first day in Europe.
The Lions return home on Friday, August 20, and begin their season a week later. LMU will host Nevada-Reno in its first game of the season at Sullivan Field on Friday, August 27 at 4:00pm.
