LONG BEACH, Calif. â€" The Loyola Marymount men's golf team tied for seventh with two other schools, but LMU's highlight at the 21st Del Walker Intercollegiate was Riley Elmes' top-2 finish.
Elmes (70-66-74-210) benefited from a career-low 66 in the second round to place him at the top of the leaderboard entering the final 18 holes. Despite going plus-4 in the final round his 210 finish was just one stroke off the individual champion, Boise State's Brian Humphreys (70-68-71-209).
The Lions (293-283-300-878) benefitted from a strong second round across the board, despite the darkness suspending play between Monday and Tuesday.
Blake Meek (71-69-76-216) also finished in the top 15 at the annual Long Beach State tournament.
Mason Glinski (74-77-76-227), Justin Egelske (82-71-77-230), and Nick Jan (78-79-74-231) closed out the LMU five.
Billy Pollock (72-78-73-223) finished in a tie for 42nd after competing as an individual.
