LOS ANGELES - Gabby Green, ranked among ESPN HoopsGurlz top 15 players nationally at the conclusion of her prep career in 2013-14, a USA Basketball U16, U17 and U19 team member and a two-year standout at Cal, has committed to continuing her collegiate career at LMU, fifth-year women's basketball Head Coach Charity Elliott announced Tuesday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Gabby Green to the LMU Lion family," said Elliott. "She is an immediate impact player and brings tremendous experience both in the Pac-12 and with USA Basketball. Adding Gabby to an already stellar class might just make this the most touted class ever to sign at LMU."
Green, a 6-2 guard hailing from Oakland, Calif., will sit out the 2016-17 season due to NCAA transfer rules. She will be eligible to compete in 2017-18 and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Her addition takes this signing class to a new level - arguably the most potent class in program history. Committing back in November 2015 were freshmen Brittney Reed (Vista Murrieta HS) and Raychel Stanley (Bishop Gorman HS, Las Vegas) while Minnesota transfer Josie Buckingham who, at 6-5, stands as the tallest Lion since 1998-99, signed in April.
"This is a great day for LMU women's basketball and the entire LMU Athletics community as Gabby's commitment will bring attention to the entire department," Elliott said. "Not only is she a tremendous talent but she's also an outstanding young lady who brings great character and integrity to our program."
