LMU women's tennis led 3-1 in the match score, but BYU (5-14, 3-4 WCC) came from behind to win the final three courts and steal a 4-3 victory over the Lions (8-11, 3-4 WCC) on Saturday from the LMU Tennis Center.

The doubles point went the way of LMU, as Andrea Crespo and Julia Norlin topped Nicolette Poulsen and Savannah Ware, 6-2, on court two to force a swing decision on court three. Anna Romeka and Tatijana Sheikhan answered the call for the Lions, defeating Natella Nabieva and Taylah Beckman, 6-4, to earn the point.

Nabieva brought the Cougars back even with the first singles victory on court five, but the Lions would claim the next two points on wins from Crespo and Romeka. Crespo, competing on court two, took down Toby Miclat, 6-3, 6-3 to push LMU to a 2-1 lead. Romeka, matched up against Ware on court four, quickly dispatched her opponent, recording the 6-2, 6-3 straight-set victory to push LMU within a point of victory at 3-1.

BYU took control of the match from there, claiming the point on court three by way of a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory from Poulsen over Elvira Juravliova, who was playing up a spot from her normal #4 position. Ellie Grossman and Beckman split a pair of sets, 7-6 (5), 3-6, but Beckman outlasted the junior at #6 singles, 6-2, in the final frame to push all the attention to court one in a tie match.

Jessica Perez and Mayci Jones played an epic three-set match at the top court, but Jones defeated Perez by way of a pair of tiebreaking 7-6 sets, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

LMU will conclude a string of three consecutive matches at home tomorrow, welcoming #44 Oregon to campus at 11 a.m.
